South Carolina

The only picture that exists from my South Carolina playing days as a teenager is a picutre of a picture.

The Ocean Course - Kiawah Island, SC

I can't imagine playing this course today and not taking a ton of pictures, but back in 1998 that is exactly what happened.  The lone gem on the top of this page is all that remains.  That's my dad and I getting ready to take on the Ocean Course.  Although it's hard to see, I believe that is also the original Great Big Bertha in my hands.  Even more noteworthy, is the photographic proof that I was the original button up man.  Somebody just forgot to tell Bubba Watson that it went out of style later on that summer of 1998.

20 years later, I still recall draining a 40 footer on 10 for birdie en route to a personal best round of 75.  This round of golf was one of my best for many, many years.

Update:  25 years after the original picture was taken, I would return to Kiawah Island on the RGV Tour.  I was under par for much of the front 9, but I would falter during the middle of the round and card a 77. That 75 remains on top in the record books and rightly so.  However, I did manage to take a lot more pictures this time around.

Brandon Canesi might not have hands, but it does not stop him from golfing hard.
