Valhalla was designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened for play in 1986.  The club was fully purchased by the PGA of America in 2000 and serves as the PGA's headquarters.  As one might expect, the course has hosted a number of PGA and Senior PGA Championships since it's opening.  The site is built to host large crowds and at 7500 yards, it has the length to test today's players.

Valhalla is probably best remembered by the 2000 PGA Championship where Tiger Woods and Bob May would duel in a 3 hole playoff.  On the first hole of the playoff, Tiger would follow his birdie putt into the hole and point at it.  One of Tiger's coolest moments ever.  I am sure that image is seared into May's mind for all of eternity.  Even though May would give Tiger (in his prime) In one of his greatest challenges, The Big Cat would come up victorious on 18.  Probably worth spending the 4:24 in the clip below.

One of the best duels in major golf history, Tiger Woods and Bob May fought it out to the last putt in a three hole playoff at Valhalla Golf Club at the 2000 PGA Championship. Tiger Woods won back-to-back PGA Championship titles, the first time a title was successful defended since 1937.
