Winning at the Wynn.

On a recent visit to Las Vegas, I golfed the grounds of the newly unveiled Wynn Golf Club. More importantly, I did a bit of digging around and uncovered 7 things worth knowing about Vegas’ newest golfing destination. Let’s roll the dice.

  1. Destination Vegas - As the only golf course located directly on the Las Vegas strip, you can stroll right out of your "Fairway Villa” and onto the 1st tee. This convenience factor gives the Wynn a serious competitive advantage over other high end Vegas clubs like Cascata and Shadow Creek. Perfect for those looking to maximize their time at the Spearmint Rhino.

2. Pool Party - The original plan for the current golf course property was a Vegas style, lavish water park. Fortunately, massive Slip ‘n Slides, bikini babes, and olympic size wave pools were eventually dismissed in favor of a high end golf course.

For the pool enthusiasts, there is still plenty of water on the property. It’s just not the sort of water that you’ll want to fire off a cannonball into and impress your friends. They won’t be impressed when you dunk your Titleist into it, either.

3. Fazio, Fazio - The original Wynn Golf Club was designed by Tom Fazio in 2005 and when the Wynn came calling for a redesign, they went back to the original master. This time he brought his son, Logan, to help with the second effort. It’s also no coincidence that Tom Fazio designed nearby Shadow Creek as well. Fazio is a master at creating a taste of North Carolina in the desert and the two courses share many similar characteristics.

The end result from team Fazio feels like a brand new golf course. In addition to 8 completely new hole designs, all of the fairways and greens have been completely remastered as well. It covers the same footprint as the previous course but with a fun, fresh new feel.

4. Ace in the hole - The massive waterfall behind the 18th green isn’t the only action you will find on the finishing hole at the Wynn Golf Club. Depending on the tee box that you play from, golfers will have a chance to win $10k to $20k with a hole in one on the 18th hole. What a way to walk off of the golf course in style!!

Then I pulled out my 5 iron, knocked it in the hole, high-fived Steve, and jumped in the pond. When I got out of the pond, they handed me a huge bag of cash.
— Probably 1st guy to ace 18

5. Shooter grounds - Portions of the 2015 film “The Squeeze” were filmed at the original Wynn Golf Club. The film starred the legendary Christopher McDonald, who most golf fans will immediately recognize as Shooter McGavin from the comedy, Happy Gilmore. Spoiler Alert: You won’t find “two big fat naked bikers, off seventeen in the woods having sex” at the Wynn Golf Club.

6. Vegas Money - The 6,722 yard par 70 layout comes at a hefty price tag with rates starting at $375. However, the greens fee must be considered in the context of it’s surroundings. Firstly, it is comparable to rates for the other top tier clubs in Vegas. Secondly, The view and the vibes emanating from the Vegas strip are worth $200 alone. Look at it this way… you only need to catch one decent heater at the craps table to cover the spread.

7. Winning formula - The waterfall modeling bar has been set extremely high at The Wynn Golf Club. After failing to cash in on the 18th hole jackpot, our crew displayed a wide range of male modeling talents and brought some serious poses to the 18th green. Good luck finding any action this hot at the Thunder from Down Under.

Bonus Male Model Challenge: I will send a crisp $5 bill to any reader that can out model my Winning Wynn pose on the left.

Even though it would almost be pointless to attempt to out pose these posers, the Wynn Golf Club is willing to let you try. To book your Vegas tee time at The Wynn Golf Club click here.
