CAG Putters

If there is one thing that I know about putting it is that you can’t do it alone. “What do you mean, Patrick? Isn’t golf a solo sport?” It certainly is, but there is no way that you are going to become a great putter unless you have a good buddy with you every step of the way. Now, I am not talking about having your pal, Steve, come over and hold your hand while you putt. I am talking about finding the right putter to play golf with.

If I had to choose between my wife and my putter, well I’d miss her

With all of the options out there, it’s difficult to find that one special putter that you want to spend your life with. This blog is here to help with that process. Today we will be discussing CAG golf putters, could she be the one?

Now, If you are considering a divorce from your current putter, it’s important to be ready to get out there and start dating again. In fact, I wouldn’t even let your current putter know that you are thinking about divorce until your find your next soul mate. CAG could be that soul mate!

For over a decade CAG has been working with golfers on the PGA and LPGA Tour, these guys are committed to providing a high quality product at a reasonable price. By maintaining low overhead and focusing on the quality, there are able to deliver on their mission.

Since there was an initial attraction to the basic look of the mallet putter option from CAG, I decided to give the 34Five-MD Pro Build Mallet Putter a try.. what a mouthful. I am not going to decipher, the marketing, but I can confirm that the putter does not have a medical degree. Here are the technical details.

  • Oversize Grip: The entire entire idea of the larger grip is to stabilize the putter through impact and reduce motion in the wrists. The feeling is pretty similar to my current Super Stroke and provides a good connection from my hands to the golf club..

  • Sightline:

    • “Our patent pending SVA Sightline Technology allows for an accurate, precise putting alignment aid to enhance setup.” - CAG website

    • “Line on the club looks good.” - Me

  • Milled face: It is all about the feel for me here. Does it inspire confidence and a solid start down your line? The 34Five-MD feels good to me.

  • CG Linear displacement: A fancy way of saying that CAG expanded the sweet spot so it performs better on mis hits and longer putts.

So is the 34Five-MD my next wife? It is hard to say after just one date, but right now I would feel comfortable bringing this putter around my golf buddies. If you are interested in browsing the singles selection of available CAG putters just click here.
