Cut Golf

One of my favorite trends in the golf industry is the introduction of new high quality golf balls at an affordable price. Most golfers are tired of paying $50 for a dozen golf balls and there are finally some lower cost options out there for them. Brands like Kirkland, Vice, & Oncore have identified this need and have developed some good golf balls that don’t cost a fortune. Recently, I heard about another company called Cut Golf that was looking to build “The best damn golf balls under $20.” I was excited to see if Cut Golf makes the cut.

While we won’t be getting into the details of the rubber core composition or urethane construction variables, we will be getting into my experience of playing the golf balls. As the Callaway Chrome Soft is my current golf ball, I will be comparing Cut Golf to the Callaway golf ball standards.

  • Feel - Freaking soft and crisp. Difficult to discern a difference from the Chrome Soft.

  • Spin - Several times during the round I got some serious check with surprisingly low club head speed around the greens. This golf ball was fun to play in short game situations.

  • Distance - I didn’t notice a serious difference. “Hitting bombs” as usual.

  • Durability - Just a couple of nicks and dings after a full round. Slightly more wear than I was used to.

The company has 7 different options varying by type and color that are all priced at $19.95. There is some confusion about understanding what color type is for what type of player and what type of color was just a color change and not a color type of ball change. ??? Fortunately, Cut Golf has developed a guide to help out. All of the play that I did was with the company’s marquee golf ball, the Cut Blue, which is actually white.

My conclusion is that Cut Golf has certainly developed itself a premium golf ball. This ball is going to perform well if it gets into play. Will it manage to compete and take market share from some of the other brands? That remains to be seen.

Visit Cut Golf today and grab yourself a dozen. After all, they are only $19.95.
