Pre Tour De France Thoughts

In 2017 I quit my sales job. I just stood up from my couch in the middle of my living room and threw my work issued PC out of the window and said fuck it. That Windows 98 OS went sailing clean out of the window and into my back yard. I was tired of being just another sales clown and I wanted to chase something special. I had no idea what that meant exactly, but I did have a plan.

I promptly purchased a recreational vehicle and turned that RV into a recreational golf vehicle or an RGV. For the entirety of 2018, I traveled across America playing golf every single day on something I called The RGV Tour. It was equal parts spectacular and glorious. This was the year that my life was forever changed.

That tour across America ended up giving birth to a career in golf course photography and ver the next 4-5 years, I traveled across the globe photographing some of the world’s greatest golf courses. It was not only a dream job but a dream come true.

In 2023, I took things even further and partnered with Golf Gamebook to embark on The RGV Tour 2.0. This was a much more ambitious effort than RGV Tour 1.0 as I had my sights set on the world record for most 18 hole golf courses played in a single year. 449 was the mark that I needed to beat and on October 17th I played mu 450th golf course and became a world record holder. I would go on to play 580 courses that year and achieve something special in the game of golf.

These two unique experiences have lead me to The RGV Tour De France. The RGV has been slimmed down to fit French standards and the tour has been truncated to just 30 days. With a much more manageable schedule, I am really looking forward to this one. I have partnered with Private Golf Key and Play Golf in France and they have me dialed into all of the hot spots and all of the very best golf locations. The planning on the first several tours was non stop and exhausting so it will be a real treat to have the local experts take over.

When visiting France it feels natural to travel with someone that you love. For this RGV adventure, my loving girlfriend and international golf babe, Rachel Alcone will be along for the full ride. Rachel has assumed the title of Chief Vibes Officer or CVO. I asked her to send a full resume outlining her duties in this new position.
