Sunday Golf

One of my favorite golf club bag companies is at it again. Sunday Golf has come out with the Ryder 23. In the past, Sunday Golf has specialized in making carry bags designed for a less than full set. The Loma bag and the El Camino were some of my very favorite short set (less than 14 clubs) bags.

The Ryder 23 marks Sunday Golf’s entrance into the 14 club game as they compete with all of the big boys. Designed for the walking golfer that rides in a cart from time to time, the Ryder stacks up nicely against the competiton. Not only does it look great on the beach but it also checks a lot of the boxes when it comes to functionality.

I am extremely particular when it comes to my golf bag. Each of the pockets should have a specific designated purpose for me. My ideal golf bag needs to be clean with minimal unnecessary features. Given my particularity, t is incredibly difficult for a golf bag to line up exactly with how I would like it to use it. Here is the a quick run down on the bag’s features with my overly critical eye.

  • Double Strap - Solid no problems here. This is exactly what you are looking for… comfortable and durable.

  • Glove Holder - Works fine. I don’t use a glove but I would imagine this to be extremely awesome.

  • The Duraflex Stand System - Dialed in. A bad stand can ruin a bag. This was the only problem on my previous Vessel bag.

  • 5 way full length Divider - Nailed it. 4 or 5 slots are acceptable for 14 clubs.

  • Apparel Pocket - Works great. Fits a windbreaker, big enough for parachute pants.

  • Golf Cart Strap - A special loop that allows a golf cart strap to fit nicely around the bag without causing wear. Real nice.

  • 4 Can Frosty Pocket - This feature is the epicenter of the bag. If you prioritize having drinks in your bag, the Ryder is a home run.

  • Ball Pocket - The middle pouch is designed for balls. Plenty of room for balls.

  • Range Finder Pocket - Convenient pocket during play, but does not zip which makes it less than ideal for travel.

  • Valuables pouch - Nailed it. Velour lined pouch for ball marks, your phone, or whatever is valuable to you.

  • Weight - 4.9 pounds. With the lightest bags in the game weighing just under 3 pounds, the Ryder is just several pounds off of the pace.

  • Style - Meets the pjkoenig “Dead Sexy” standard.

Overall, this golf bag is one of the finest on the market place. If you walk into Dick’s Sporting Goods you won’t find a single golf bag in there as good as this one. It’s no suprise that the bag has received high quality reviews from Golf Digest and other respected publications.

The style, quality, and functionality of the golf bag make it good enough for me to immediately put it into play. The bag is so good that it even inspired legendary Laguna Beach model, Gwen, to pose for some rare golf bag model shots. Please enjoy and pick up your Sunday Bag today.
